The EIFL-JABS Diamond Open Access Project held a two-day intensive training workshop from July 31 to August 1, 2025.

Editorial Board Training Workshop

This capacity-building workshop brought together key members of the Journal of Agricultural and Biomedical Sciences (JABS), Journal of Law and Social Sciences (JLSS), and Journal of Natural and Applied Sciences (JONAS) editorial boards from the University of Zambia. As part of the EIFL-JABS initiative, which aims to strengthen the open access publishing infrastructure of UNZA and other institutions in the region, the workshop served as a hands-on training to improve workflow efficiency, editorial policy alignment, and platform navigation among editorial board members.

This event also highlighted the current status of UNZA journals, including progress on ongoing journal mergers. The EIFL-JABS project delivered an overview of the project’s goals, milestones, and the progress of work packages.

The workshop successfully empowered the editorial board for JABS, JLSS, and JONAS with the technical expertise to manage the journal's end-to-end publishing process within the OJS platform, ensuring efficiency from streamlined submissions, coordinating peer reviews, enforcing ethical standards, and ensuring timely publication.

We thank all participants and partners for their contributions toward improving discoverability of UNZA journal articles.
